Repair Checklist For Every Repair

Repair Checklist

Sending your controller or ECU to a repair service requires trust. You're handing over something valuable and expecting it back in better condition than it left. At Game Gear Garage, we take that responsibility seriously — which is why every repair goes through a structured quality process before it's returned to you.

Here's exactly what we check.

On Arrival: Initial Inspection

Before we touch anything, we log your device and carry out a full arrival inspection:

  • Physical condition documented (existing scratches, cracks, wear noted)
  • All reported faults confirmed and recorded
  • Additional faults identified that you may not have noticed
  • Device photographed before work begins

We'll never carry out work beyond what's agreed without contacting you first.

During the Repair: Workmanship Standards

Our technicians follow strict standards throughout every repair:

  • Soldering — all joints inspected under magnification. Cold joints, bridges, or insufficient solder are reworked before proceeding
  • Component handling — ESD (electrostatic discharge) precautions followed at all times to protect sensitive electronics
  • Torque — screws tightened to correct specification. No stripped heads, no overtightening
  • Connectors — all ribbon cables and connectors reseated correctly and checked for damage
  • Cleanliness — flux residue cleaned from all solder points after work

Controller Repairs: Post-Repair Checklist

Every controller goes through a full function test on a live console before sign-off:

  • ✅ Left and right joysticks — full range of motion, no drift, correct deadzone
  • ✅ All face buttons (cross, circle, square, triangle / A, B, X, Y)
  • ✅ D-pad — all four directions
  • ✅ Triggers (L2/R2 or LT/RT) — full analogue range tested
  • ✅ Bumpers (L1/R1 or LB/RB)
  • ✅ Touchpad (PS5) or Share/Options buttons
  • ✅ Haptic feedback / rumble motors
  • ✅ Charging port — cable seated correctly, charging confirmed
  • ✅ Wireless connectivity confirmed
  • ✅ Battery level checked

ECU Repairs: Post-Repair Test Checklist

ECU work is signed off only after the following are confirmed:

  • ✅ Full diagnostic scan — no fault codes present
  • ✅ Programming verified against vehicle specification
  • ✅ All relevant modules communicating correctly on the CAN bus
  • ✅ Immobiliser and security functions verified where applicable
  • ✅ Bench test completed before dispatch

Before It Leaves Us

Once testing is complete, your device is:

  • Cleaned externally
  • Carefully packaged to prevent transit damage
  • Sent with tracked, insured shipping

We stand behind our work. If something isn't right when you receive your device, contact us and we'll make it right.
